Academic Classification and Promotion supports the holistic recognition of academic staff achievements in research/creative activity, education, service and leadership. This page provides information for those staff members submitting applications for classification or promotion.
There are two classification and promotion rounds each year. Applications are due by close of business on the same dates every year:

*If dates occur on a weekend/ public holiday, applications are due on the next business day.

Promotion – for academic staff who have received an academic classification from the University College
Applicants are encouraged to identify the application category relevant to them before they begin the application process.

The preparation required will depend on which category of application you are making. To assist you, PDF copies of the online application forms have been made available under Step 1 above.
Applications for Classification and Promotion require applicants to state their achievements in the Fields of Attainment. Applicants will prepare and upload a separate response. Further information on what they need to include in their Curriculum Vitae and Details of Attainment response has also been provided under Step 1. The criteria used to assess applications can be found under Appendix 1 and Appendix 2 of the Classification and Promotion Policy, or as a separate document here.
You will need to include relevant evidence to support your application, particularly with reference to your response to the details of attainment. Where the Committee has requirements regarding certain types of evidence, this is listed below. Further evidence may be requested by the Committee once applications are reviewed.
Should you have any questions regarding application requirements, please email governance@aucd.edu.au
Once you have prepared your application and gathered your supporting documents, follow the link below and complete the relevant application form.
If further information is required, the governance office will contact you via email. Please check your email inbox regularly.
Your application will be reviewed by the Classification and Promotion Committee members independently, and then jointly at the Classification and Promotion Committee meeting, where outcomes are finalised.
At times, the Committee will seek advice from experts in areas where they need additional specialised knowledge, such as information about a certain publisher or journal in a certain region or field of study. It is important to note that these consultants do not assess the applications, but only provide certain kinds of advice to aid the Committee in their assessments.
You will be notified of the outcome via an official letter which will be sent to your email by the Governance Office. Outcomes are normally sent out within two weeks of the meeting.
Once the official letter has been sent, your Member Institution will also be notified of the application outcome and, if relevant, your new classification.
Should you have any questions regarding the outcome, enquiries can be directed to the Governance Office.
